Village Of Valley Stream Valley Stream is an incorporated village. It has its own government, with an elected Mayor and Board of Trustees; a Volunteer Fire Department, Emergency Squad, Post Office, Public Library, Sanitation and Water District. Town of Hempstead Founded in 1644, the Town of Hempstead is one of the largest townships in the United States. Over 142 square miles of area with a polpulation of 725,000 (approx) people. Within the town there are 34 inincorporated areas and 22 incorporated villages, over 65 parks and marinas and 2,500 miles of roads. Nassau County
Nassau County is governed by an elected Legislature. The county executive serves a four year term and is the chief administrator. Nassau also has an elected Comptroller. The 19 county legislators serve two year terms.
