S C H O O L S The Valley Stream schools have separate elementary and high school districts. In 1929, the present Central High School was built on Fletcher Avenue. Memorial Junior High opened in 1952 and North and South High Schools opened in 1955 to ease crowding at the high school. The high school district has a rich academic program. More than 90 percent go on to either a two or four year college. There are ten elementary schools in three elementary school districts 13, 24 and 30.
